My Village Life is one of those games that will take over your life for a week or two and then you will only play it when a new update happens. I ended up playing this because a friend of mine had it and wanted to try out the multiplayer, we ended up roping another buddy in and it became one of our go-to games to play when we wanted to just screw around and have some fun. It is a strange open world village simulator that if it gets its hooks into you, you just want to keep on playing!
I grew up in a small village in Scotland so seeing all the fields, farms, woods, and so on that My Village Life has is pretty cool. There is no big story arc here, instead, you are just trying to live your best village life as you do little jobs/tasks for the village folk and get new vehicles, equipment, and so on. It is the kind of game where you will be making up your own story in your head as you play it.

Shot during 3 seasons, this documentary tenderly portrays village life in Puvirnituq, on the shores of Hudson Bay in northern Quebec, as well as the elements that forge the character of its people: their history, the great open spaces, and their unflagging humour.

I was socially and politically conscious from a young age, as a result of my father's influence. My father was a teacher and a nationalist who helped found the Malayan political party, UMNO, in my village. I witnessed the discrepancy between the poor and the rich in Malaysia in the 1960s and 1970s which was due to differences in educational opportunity. I also saw that education was a great force for social mobility. There were a lot of interacting factors including, the urban location of the English schools which deprived the rural Malays of a solid education for social mobility; their low socioeconomic status that deprived them of non-free English education; their negative attitude toward the modern English schools which they felt were evangelizing their children, and so on. The government had to pay a price for this wide discrepancy bred during colonialism and continued after independence in 1957. It was like a time bomb which exploded in 1969 (known as the May 13th Crisis) that led to national reform, most important of which was the New Economic Policy (NEP) to assist the Malays and indigenous peoples1 in education and economics. It was an affirmative action or sort of a reverse discrimination for the majority group (strange, isn't it), but ours was more successful in comparison to that of the USA in assisting the minority groups (the Blacks, women etc.). 781b155fdc
